Sign the petition now: tell Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio to reverse the cuts and support a fair price for solar.
On 24 August 2015, the Essential Services Commission decided to cut the amount that people get paid for solar energy they feed into the grid. The Victorian rate was 6.2c per kilowatt hour; now that’s been slashed by 20% to only 5c.
This move could cost solar households hundreds of dollars each year, and means people will be less likely to install new solar panels.
The Greens believe that solar owners should be paid a fair price for the energy they feed into the grid.
The Andrews Labor Government promised a review into a fair price for solar, but in the meantime they could allow a cut of 20% to the current feed-in tariff. We urgently need to put pressure on the Energy Minister to intervene and stop these cuts to solar.
To the Minister for Energy,
Please act now to stop the cuts to Victoria’s solar feed-in tariff.
Cutting the solar feed-in tariff punishes people who have installed solar panels and makes it less likely for new people to install solar.
We should help Victorians install solar panels by paying a fair price for solar energy.
