PROTECT AND RESTORE NATURE
From the spectacular forests of East Gippsland to the iconic ocean vistas of the Great Ocean Road, we in Victoria are so lucky to have a natural paradise on our doorstep.
‘I grew up in country Victoria, exploring the spectacular landscapes of the mallee. I want my kids and all future generations to know the joy of nature – seeing eagles soar and echidnas waddle through the bush.’
We are so lucky to have unique birds, animals, plants and ecosystems found nowhere else in the world. Yet for generations, we’ve paid people to clear land and cut down forests, killing wildlife and destroying habitat.
In 2020, Victoria’s wildlife is under more pressure than ever, from non-native weeds and animals, worsening climate change, droughts and bushfires.
In 2019, I was proud to establish a Parliamentary Inquiry into Victoria’s extinction crisis. This will shine a light on the solutions we urgently need to turn things around for our threatened species.
Right now, I am also campaigning for a massive job-creation program in the wake of COVID-19 and the Black Summer fires to restore our bush, save threatened species from extinction and green our cities and towns.
We all need a healthy world to thrive, and that’s why I’ll always fight to protect and restore Victoria’s environment, before it’s gone forever.
