Federation Square was built as a public and cultural space, and it's crucial we protect that.
In the past, the public spoke out against the planned Apple megastore and sent a strong message to the government; we want our public space to remain in public hands, and to protect our Fed Square!
Since then, the government has been reviewing the square, so I surveyed the community to find out what you would like to see for the future of our square.
The results are in, and one thing is clear: Fed Square is important public space which needs to be protected! Read the results here.
Almost everyone who filled out the survey mentioned the importance of open public space, free public events and activities, or protecting the square from being commercialised.
It’s clear Fed Square holds incredible significance for our city.
The square is a place for people to come together, for important rallies and protests, cultural celebrations and festivals, art exhibitions, and special moments spent with family and friends.
