A GREEN NEW DEAL FOR VICTORIA

I’m calling for a Victorian Green New Deal that will create tens of thousands of jobs, solving long-standing problems like inequality and climate change.

‘We can reimagine our economy in a new way, to look after people and the planet for generations to come. That’s what a Green New Deal is.’

Here’s what could be in a Green New Deal for Victoria:

🏘️ A big build of 100,000 new public housing homes so everyone can have a place to call home.

⚡ An industrial-scale build of publicly-owned solar, wind and energy storage infrastructure to power Victoria with 100% renewable energy.

🚈 A massive investment in walking, bike riding and public transport to supercharge the economic renewal of our communities, making our communities more liveable and cutting traffic and carbon emissions.

🌱 Restoring our precious natural environment with a BushCare Jobs Blitz to regenerate bushfire-affected areas, a plan to plant 10 million trees to green our cities and towns, and by building new recycling factories right here in Victoria.

👪 Boosting the caring economy to ensure we have more teachers, nurses, disability carers, homeless and mental health support workers, and all the other important jobs that provide care in our society.

💰 Supporting our local traders to ensure our main shopping streets remain vibrant community places that continue to support retail jobs.

I’m really excited about creating jobs, addressing the climate crisis and building a more equal society with a Green New Deal for Victoria.
