ALLOW PILL TESTING
ALLOW PILL TESTING
The deaths of two young people at music festival Defqon in mid-September were tragic, especially so because those deaths were preventable. We can and we must end the war on drugs and save lives this summer. Victoria can follow the example of ACT and allow pill testing at events.
Policing has not, and will not, stop some young people choosing to take drugs. If pill testing and other harm minimisation measures were in place lives may have been saved.
Last year the Greens introduced a bill to allow pill testing: the Labor Government wouldn’t support it and ‘maintains its clear position against changes such as pill testing and decriminalisation of drugs.’
I think it is immoral to let young people die for the sake of looking tough on law and order.
