School Tours of Parliament

The Parliament of Victoria offers a range of activities for students at primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education levels.

Tours for primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education groups are available. Tours align with curriculum requirements such as Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS), VCE Legal Studies and International Studies Study Guides.

School tours take place at 9.00 am, 10.00 am, 11.00 am, 12.00 noon, 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm on non-sitting days.

Tours are also available on sitting days, as follows:

Tuesdays: 9.00 am, 10.00 am, 11.30 am (Question Time), 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm, and 4.00 pm.
Wednesdays and Thursdays: 9.00 am, 10.30 am (Question Time), 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm.

As space is limited, bookings for Question Time can only be made for post-primary and adult groups.

Parliament Role Plays

Parliament role plays give Year 5, 6 and 7 students the opportunity to act out the various roles in Parliament and pass their own law. This interactive activity takes place in the Legislative Assembly chamber and allows students to experience the law-making process first hand.

VCE Role Plays

The VCE Role Play is a new program for Year 11 and 12 VCE Legal Studies students, which allows students to gain an understanding of how a law is made by following a scripted role play.

Metropolitan School Visits

Metropolitan school visits provide an opportunity for students to learn about Parliament from experienced Parliament tour guides in their own classroom — available to students in years 5, 6 and 7 and VCE.

School tours last for approximately one hour and all role plays and Metroplitan School Visits last for approximately 1.5 hours. All tours, role plays and talks are free of charge.

Bookings for school tours and role plays in 2017 will open on 1 December 2016.
