A huge congratulations to The Community Grocer, who do excellent work providing affordable fruit and veg for long-income households in Carlton and other suburbs of Melbourne.
Nutrition students at Monash University just wrapped up this year's impact evaluation.
- The Community Grocer is serving an increasingly diverse population - 29 different nationalities, up from only 22 last year.
- On average, their produce is 60% cheaper than surrounding supermarkets and greengrocers.
- 75% of their customers reported that they're able to buy more fruit and veg because of Community Grocer markets.
- They're promoting healthy connected communities where 83% of shoppers feel more connected to the community!
