Are you passionate about social justice? The environment? Local community issues? Workers' rights? Looking to be part of the solution? Here’s your opportunity to gain first-hand experience volunteering with Melbourne's Lower House Federal and State representatives and make an impact.
Adam Bandt MP and Ellen Sandell MLA are looking for volunteers to join their teams in Melbourne in 2018.
The volunteer training program is an opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the community.
We know skills can be built quickly. Initiative and a thirst for knowledge are the most important qualities we are looking for.
Volunteers may learn how to:

Respond to constituent concerns or help them solve problems;

Research and write about issues impacting on constituents, Melbourne and Australia;

Assist with outreach to community groups and organise events;

Build constituents’ ability to run community campaigns;

Run campaigns on issues that are important to the community, such as climate change, the environment, public transport and more;

Do a range of other things depending on projects to be designed in collaboration with you.
Volunteers are invited to contribute in the categories of constituent liaison, community liaison, community organising, communications, data and systems organising, constituent correspondence and outreach, internal communications or other areas desired by volunteers.
How does it work?

The position is voluntary. No financial remuneration is available and no employment positions are on offer;

Volunteers will be offered five training sessions and regular mentoring;

Costs incurred during project work will be reimbursed as negotiated;

Volunteers will be mentored by Electorate Officers and the Chief of Staff;

Students seeking a placement or internship for course accreditation can be accommodated, get in touch with us to learn more;

Our office is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday so availability during business hours is necessary. However, hours are flexible and will be negotiated to ensure a convenient arrangement.
